In Scotland Kate worked with students on campaigns for Amnesty International. Refugee rights and human rights in Burma were her special interest. As a researcher at Amnesty International Kate also worked on the campaign against the distribution of Tasers to non-firearms trained police officers in Scotland .
At Global Conscience Kate will inform journalists of GCI 's work, answer requests for information and ensure that the website is up to date with GCI 's latest human rights activities.
Kate decided to come to Cameroon to experience a different way of life and to gain experience working in the field of human rights. She has been welcomed by the staff and interns at Global Conscience and is very happy to be in Kumba. She is looking forward to learning more about the culture and people of Cameroon as well as contributing to human rights with GCI .
International intern Kate Armstrong is Global Conscience's first Communication Officer. Kate has come from Scotland to volunteer as GCI 's Communication Officer for one year. She recently graduated from Edinburgh University where she read History and Politics. Her studies included African Politics and Human Rights. She is looking forward to discovering more about both through her work at GCI .
