Despite our efforts to bring back home hundreds of captives and at comforting hundreds more of afflicted persons, Kumba and Cameroon continue to demonstrate a general lack of understanding regarding human rights. Little or no training facilities or opportunities exist for human rights trainings, and the consequent ignorance especially on the part of the populations makes them abuse human rights and remain vulnerable to abuses by authorities.

GCI Education and Training aims at inculcating knowledge and skills in human rights in the population and in those in positions of power and authority. We train grassroots populations, community field workers, paralegals, mediators, students, lawyers, Journalists, prison workers, prisoners, and all classes of people on what human rights are and the need to protect and promote them.

Igorance of human rights standards accounts seriously for the rampant abuses experienced in the country. We worry much about the situation of prisoners, jungle justice in our communities, governance, corruption and community leadership

Objective of the programmes

• Improve the capacity of government to handle human rights situations in accordance with international standards and the Constitution of Cameroon.

• Eliminate the incidences of jungle justice in communities

• Foster increased networking between police, gendarmes, NGOs and communities.
